How To Stop Struggling And Be Patient

By Frances Lucas

In Genesis 8, we learn from Noah's story that God does things in His own time. After Noah built the ark, loaded his family and all the animals into the ark and waited for the floods, stayed in the ark during the 40 days and nights of rain and then waited for God to tell him it was okay to leave the ark, it was almost a year inside the boat. Although the waters receded and the bird had not returned, Noah waited patiently for God to tell him to leave the ark. If Noah would have went too soon, it would have shown his lack of faith in God. Sometimes we want to move to soon. We may send a bird out ahead of time to "test the water" but we should know from Noah's experience to wait. Wait for God. We should practice as Noah was patient and wait for God to tell us He is ready and not take things into our hands.

What are you waiting for? Do you have financial troubles? Are you dealing with more bills than you have the money to spend? Do you have relationships issues? Is there someone who you are struggling with in a relationship and it is preoccupying your mind? Is God preparing you for something and you feel you are ready? Do you have something that you want to do that when you step out to do it, things just seem to fall apart?

Maybe because we have financial problems, God is telling us to wait patiently for Him. While we are waiting, we should practice using our money wisely. We should set a budget, cut back where we can, spend only what we have to and above all, give God ten percent of what He has given us. We need to show Him we have faith in Him handling our finances. Look at what you are doing now and see where you can improve while you are waiting on God to help you with your finances.

If we have relationship issues, and we feel like just giving up on the person, we need to listen to God. People are in our lives for a reason. It may be something that we need to give to them or may be something that we need to learn from them. God has a plan for our relationships or He would not have put that person in our path during our lifetime. While we are waiting for the relationship to be mended, we should pray. Pray asking God to show us what we can do to make the first step. He will make things happen when He is ready.

Whatever you are struggling with right now, decide to wait for God. Give Him thanks for what you do have, stay busy reading His word and doing the things you can do now. You can stay busy doing something else or do more research on how to get better at what you are waiting to do. God will give you a sign to move ahead or to leave the ark when He knows it is time. God's timing is always right. If we wait, we will know when He is ready.
